There are three methods that can be used to assign equipment to an ODI screen. Two of the methods are centrally managed and the third method is configured locally at each individual ODI screen.
ODI Equipment can be assigned to either a device such as a tablet or PC or a specific DataXchange user regardless of the device used to access the ODI. Equipment assigned in these manners will configure the ODI for that device or user to display that equipment when the ODI loads. The equipment can still also be changed locally from the Equipment Configuration screen on the ODI.
Note: The list of Equipment centrally assigned to a user will take priority over the equipment centrally assigned to the device the user has logged in with. If neither the user nor the centrally managed methods have equipment assignments defined, the equipment selected on the ODI Configuration screen will be used.
Device Equipment Assignment
To assign ODI equipment to a particular device, go to Manage → (Settings) → Application → ODI → Assign Equipment to Devices. At the top of the screen a list of devices that have connected to the ODI is shown. This can include desktop PCs, smartphones, or tablets.
To assign equipment select a device and click Modify. At the bottom-left of the screen, check the boxes for the equipment you would like to load by default when the selected device accesses the ODI. Click the right arrow button to move the equipment into the list. To remove equipment, click it on the right side and click the left arrow button. Use the up and down arrow buttons to change the order of the equipment in the ODI list.
Optionally a Device Description can be entered. This is useful if a large number of devices are using the ODI and the list needs to be narrowed down based on information other than Host Names and Addresses that are already in the list.
Once finished click the Enter button. The next time the ODI is loaded from this device the selected equipment will be all that is visible.
Choose a device and click Remove to remove it from the list and unassign all equipment from the selected device.
Device Equipment Group Assignment
To assign Equipment Groups to the ODI for a particular device, go to Manage → (Settings) → Application → ODI → Assign Equipment Group to Devices.
A list of devices is shown. Select a device and click modify to change its settings. An optional Device Description can be entered, and below that Equipment Groups can be selected for use on the device. The equipment shown on the ODI will change when the equipment in the group changes.
Once finished click the Enter button. The next time the ODI is loaded from this device the equipment in the selected equipment groups will be all that is visible.
Choose a device and click Remove to remove it from the list and unassign all equipment groups from the selected device.
User Equipment Assignment
To assign equipment to specific users, regardless of which device they are using, go to Manage → (Settings) → Application → ODI → Assign Equipment to Users.
To assign ODI equipment to a User, select a User and click Modify. Check the boxes next to the desired equipment and click the right arrow to move them into the Selected list. To remove a piece of equipment, click it and click the left arrow button. Use the up and down arrow buttons to change the order of the equipment in the ODI list.
Once the desired equipment has been assign, click the Enter button to confirm the selection. The next time this user access the ODI they will see the selected equipment only.
To remove equipment from a user, click the user and click the Remove button.
