Follow the steps below to setup and configure DataXchange so it will auto start and load right into the Real Time Viewer. Ensure the following conditions are met before starting:

  • Current version of DataXchange
  • Permission to add a user within DataXchange
  • Permission to add shortcut to startup folder within Windows

  1. Log into DataXchange
  2. Navigate to Manage → User Groups
  1. Add a new group for the RTV login. This is needed due to the fact that permissions are based off of groups.
    1. Type in the name of the Group
    2. Select Group Type Employees (only available option)
    3. Ensure that the group is enabled
  1. Navigate to Manage → Users → Users
  1. Add a new User for the RTV login.
    1. Type in the name of the User
    2. Fill out the User information. Name the user something like “RTV”
    3. Ensure that the user is enabled.
    4. Make sure to add the RTV user to the group you created.
  1. Navigate to Manage → Application
  1. Configure the User Application security.
    1. Select the User group that you just created.
    2. Scroll down and select the desired options under the RTV tab.
  1. Next navigate to User → Auto Login
  1. Enter in the credentials into the automatic login screen.
  1. Navigate to User → Logout to log out of the application.
  1. Login using the newly created credentials and the system will prompt you to enter in a password.
  1. Navigate to RTV → Options → Auto Settings
  1. Add the already created RTV view to the selected views. There is no limit to the amount of screens that can be added.
  1. DataXchange will not automatically run unless the following step is preformed. In order to have DataXchange start when you boot up the PC, add the DataXchange shortcut into the windows startup folder.

The startup folder is typically located at: C:\Users\**USER NAME**\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

To access this folder quickly, press Windows Key + R to open the Run box. In the Run box type “Shell:Startup” (without quotes) and press enter.

If you wish to have this automatically start for all users of the PC, enter “Shell:Common Startup” in to the run box instead, or navigate to “C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup”
